The Weighing of the Heart — the central scene of ancient Egyptian belief about the afterlife. In the Hall of Two Truths, Anubis places the heart of the deceased on one pan of a great scale; on the other pan rests the feather of Ma'at, goddess of truth. If the heart is lighter than the feather, the soul passes through to Osiris and the eternal fields. If it is heavier — burdened with sin — Ammit, the devourer, waits beside the scale to consume it.

This panel reproduces that judgment scene in full. Thoth, the ibis-headed god of wisdom, stands ready to record the verdict. Horus the falcon-headed and Isis attend Osiris, who is shown enthroned, wearing the crown of Lower Egypt and holding the shepherd's crook and flail. The ankh — the key of life — appears in the hands of several judges. The Eye of Horus presides over the outcome.

This is a hand-finished reproduction in printed wood, made in Cairo by Egyptian artisans. The proportions, figures and pigment palette are carried over from the wall paintings of the New Kingdom. Ready to mount or display freestanding.
